An Itten Color Experience

July 9, 2013

I think that Johannes Itten, the great color theorist and teacher would have thoroughly enjoyed watching our Level 1 Color Study class – the Claret Cups (a flower name for a group of students) work through the fundamentals of color theory and then take a running jump into various color combinations to show what colors can do to and with each other.  I call it Immersing Yourself in Color.    This incredible experimental group of level 1 Color students met for 5 days at the beginning of July here in the studio at Barn House. There will be another Level 1 Color Study course at the studio Dec. 4th to 8th. It’s not up on our website yet.  The next mentored Online Color Studies Course – Lagerfeld (a rose name) begins August 20th. The online Course has lots of videos and presentations in addition to hundreds of pages of colorful notes to download.  Enjoy the color.    Gail Harker

Every time I see the color that is captured through these exercises……I want to run home and play with color (I’m presently at work)! These pictures of students’ work always make me smile! What a blessing to experience color like this!

It was such fun – I really enjoyed it and I’m having fun doing homework now 🙂
