Level 4 Experimental Research for Art and Design is a Challenging Adventure

December 29, 2017

Level 4 Experimental Research for Art and Design – Diploma – Class name: Coral

2017 Open  House Exhibit – November 18, 2017 – Tutor: Gail Harker  Blog #1 of 8

Leslie Christian, Mical Middaugh, Angelia Alexander, Ellen Anderson, Moira Kloster, Cathy Glover and Christine Mahoney displayed progressive and final artwork at the conclusion of their course of 8 sessions of 5 days each – a total of 40 days. It is always so much fun to put together an Open House.  It provides students the opportunity to see their  artwork  on the walls or organized on tables.  Projects come to life as decisions are made about how they can best be displayed. The end result is always a surprise even to me. I see new artwork come in the door and wonder how things will go together as a unified exhibit.  Designing the walls and rooms takes about 4 days in advance of the Opening. Linda Ingham, a past Diploma student who has also achieved our Certificate for Hanging and Presenting Art, Design and Textiles has joined me for this occasion.   Since its founding in Washington State in 1994, the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts  has provided instruction, coaching and mentoring to hundreds of textile and design students.  Learn more at http://www.gailcreativestudies.com
