Reception at Museum of Northwest Art – 20 Year Celebration

September 29, 2015

On Sept. 18th, 75 students and friends gathered for a reception at the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner, Washington..  Thank you to the Museum Team for helping us make this a memorable event.    We had a chance to view exhibiting artists in the Museum, have a glass of wine, and some food in this beautiful space.     Students from the past met each other once again. So many interesting conversations!!!!!!    Mayor Ramon Hayes welcomed our visitors   –  some from as far away as Wisconsin, San Francisco, California, Canada.  Anita Luvera Mayer, textile artist was the key note speaker with her lecture titled “Embroidered Dishtowels to Regal Robes.”  A fashion show followed the talk displaying a number of robes that Anita has recently created.  Anita attended the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts –  City & Guilds of London Institute  Examination and Study Center #780027 in Oak Harbor and graduated with a Diploma in 2004.  Anita travels extensively, both to teach and also to tour.  She is a very popular textile artist in Washington and other parts of North America. Thanks Anita for such an inspiring talk and fashion Show.  Gail Harker

It looks like it was a wonderful event. Thanks for the photos. I originally learned about your center from taking a class from Anita.
