Exploring and Developing a Theme in a Deeper Way…. Guest Blogger: Dorothea Collins

Level 3 Studies in Art and Design – Calendula Exhibition

Many, many years ago……..Beginning with a difficulty to verbalize and to translate internal processes into words, the innate joy I found in playing, experimenting, investigating, and exploring transformed into discovering and feeling my way towards a structured process that works for me and compliments my creative practice while exploring and developing a theme in a deeper way. Finding this structure is probably the greatest gift I take away from this program alongside other watershed moments that were like little sparkling treasures found along an inspiring and exciting path led gently and generously by Gail and shared with the “Calendulas” during the past 2½ years.  Looking more closely at the lantern plant, my theme originates in a lifelong fascination with seedpods and their structures, as well as nature’s ingenious ways of ensuring the continuation of life.

What a wonderful theme. I love all the “structure” in your work.
