Friends of the Center assist with Experimental Machine Stitch Class
In May, there were 10 people in the Lemon Blossoms class who received their certificates for Level 1 Experimental Machine Stitch. You even sent in your work before its due date. This class was in February but we at the center were getting ready for students well before this date. Friends of the center (volunteers) Jane Godfrey and Marilynn Olson cut fabric and lovingly packaged it for this group. A binder of student notes was printed out for each student by Glynn Jones, who works in the office part time. Christina Erickson helped keep us organized and generally assisted during part of the class. June Steegstra, a past graduate and very experienced artist of machine embroidery assisted me during the latter part of the course just as she always has for the past 10 years or more. I got out extra machines, cleaned and oiled them before the class and prepared the paints and other items in the classroom for when the students arrived.
Students work in class for 5 days and then continue to complete the samples at home. They send the work back within a 3 month period and I review the work. Students develop a real understanding and come to terms with their machines after this session. The class is a foundation for more advanced courses as well. I have included a few photos of students work here. Wish I had time to photograph more.. Congratulations to those who completed and those who helped them complete.
