I have known about chestnuts most of my life. In my younger days I tried making chestnut stuffing for turkey. At that time, I didn’t have a great appreciation of chestnuts. Mostly, because the only preparation method I knew of at that time was to cut crosses on the flat side of the chestnut and boil them in water. But, my great appreciation for chestnuts came while Gail and I were strolling down Oxford Street in London during Xmas. holidays and peering into the decorated windows of Selfridges. There we encountered people on the street selling chestnuts roasted on little hibachis. We stopped and bought some roasted chestnuts which were given to us in a little paper bag.
