A New Beginning with Procion MX Dyes

May 11, 2014

What better way to begin a new series of classes than with color.  The new level 3 group Advanced Studies in Experimental stitch – Asters had their first of 8 – 5 day sessions this past week. Each one of them has already completed other requisite courses in order to begin this course. These embroiderers learn how to work with fabrics such as cotton, linen, velvet, or silk – to name but a few. Each fabric has a unique characteristic and responds differently to the dyes and to the technique or stitch that is used on it. We started this session with Procion MX dyes and fabrics swirling around in a tub. A group of like minded people explored color schemes on paper, fabrics and threads. At the end of the session, everyone left armed with samples of their own making and a homework list.  Session 2 comes all too soon  when they will return again ready for another session of design and stitch.  Gail
