Threads Come Alive in Lacemaking

April 1, 2014

Those who work with threads – embroiderers and lacemakers, share and understand the pleasing sensation of threads slipping through the fingers to create works of  beauty.  Embroiderers create needle made lace and lacemakers create bobbin lace.  Our students and I are looking forward to being in Normandy to see Claudette and Michel Bouvot’s collection of both types of lace:  Needle lace : Point de France,  Gros Point de Venise,  Alençon  and Argentan…  and bobbin lace:  Blondes de Caen,  Chantilly , Polychromes de Courseulles and Point de Honfleur… Thanks for permission to Claudette and Michel Bouvot for sharing these photographs,  a few of the photos I took from our 2007 tour.  Have a look at our tour brochure for Oct. 2014.  Gail
