2014 Tour of the Glories of British Art and Textiles

March 23, 2014

Hurrah! We completed the brochure for our upcoming Tour of the Glories of British Art and Textiles for October 2014.   Great Britain is an incredible source of documented textile traditions, particularly medieval times right up to the 21 century.  I specifically plan the venues to provide as complete a picture as possible of this lengthy time period.  Being there provides an insight as to how people lived and how the textiles were woven into a social and economic culture.     I started running  Custom Study Tours for my City & Guild  students on a much smaller scale while  living and teaching in England.  All to enhance the teaching programme.  It seemed natural to continue to share some of the inspirational, historical, and contemporary art and textile treasures that I had experienced over the 20 years we lived in England when we moved to the U.S.A.  This is our 6th Tour from America. I am so excited that this year’s tour is longer than previous tours and we are travelling to France to see The Bayeux Tapestry which is really an embroidery. . I will be sharing experiences on my blog so armchair travellers can participate too.  Click here for a link to the tour brochure.

This looks wonderful – I wish I could go but I’ll probably end up being an armchair traveler. Have fun!
