Stone Lace – Shades of Grey

February 26, 2014

The most wonderful repeating patterns in sandstone exist near here in Larabee State Park, Washington. I have photographed these rocks a number of times and they are different each time I do so.  Sometimes this lattice work of stone is called Tafoni and patterns appear around the world in other types of rock as well. You’ll have to look up your own statistics if you are interested as I am more entranced by the shapes, patterns, colors  and compositions in general. Nature is such a gift to the artist. One of our students brought in a book named Tafoni that has such incredible photos, author Cristina Viviani  and published by 18Karat.  So if you can’t get to the State Park, there’s another option.  Gail
