Level 4 Experimental Stitch and Multi Media

Fabric, fiber, thread and stitch, whether hand or machine, have been my favorite things for as long as I can remember. While I have studied drawing and painting, for me they are either a starting point for designing a piece or a method for adding detail to my work. I chose to study my Russian heritage, focusing on folk art, icons and wooden architecture. My goal is to convey the joy I feel about all the materials and my subject matter. Marcia

Marcia, your work looks wonderful. I wish I’d been able to come to see it and say Hi.

Hi Marsha, Your images are really evocative of the folk images we are seeing in Greece–the 18 & 19 C costumes and the garments worn by Orthodox priest are cousins to your work. And your reindeer felt is very exciting. I am so flag I was able to see it in person at the Schack Show. Congratulations! Penny
