Stitching With Metal Threads – A Classic Technique 2

June 5, 2011

Joan Mills

Here are the remainder of Metal Thread items created by individuals from the Amethysts Diploma graduating group from 2004.  There is a real tradition of couching and laying metallic threads that goes back to antiquity.    There are so many ways to enhance the effect of light on the threads.   A few methods consist of  laying the metal threads  over string,  padding them or stitching them down at different angles.   Metallic threads can also be combined with other media.  This can be very exciting and can bring a contemporary feel into the work.  Gail
