Paper Flowers Exhibition – Guest Blogger Anne Brooks Middleton

March 17, 2011

My storyboard displays inspiration, design ideas, and color studies.

The messages left on the sandstone rock of the Southwest speak to me. It is said the footprints show the journey that led the people to their pueblo homes. These petroglyphs are the inspiration for the images I used in the stitched book. The dancer bedecked with feathers combines a photographic image and layers of organza and tulle with many different stitches to give life to this ancient messenger. And it was he who finally led to the theme for the whole book.

    Anne,
I really enjoyed viewing your work online and look forward to seeing it in person. Your colors and subject are so great. What an idea a modern interpretation/embellishment on the most ancient art form known to man. I love it!
