Level 1 Experimental Hand Stitch – Color and Stitch as a Creative Experience

January 11, 2011

We dye or paint to get more than just nice colors but to begin to understand the messages that can be told through the medium of color itself.

Painting sketchbook pages and then stitching into them is a contemporary way of creating color, line and texture on paper.  The sketchbooks are also used to demonstrate new ideas and color studies.  They are working sketchbooks, not presentations, and students are encouraged not to make too many rules for themselves but to have fun with them.

We stitch, not to recreate the perfect stitch but to create a line, mark or textural quality to express the essence of an idea, mood, or thought.

For a more in-depth description of  this course, see our web site. Dates and tuition costs can be also be found in the course brochure.
